The Child is the Father of Man By: John Abbott

: From guest Arthur ( contact ) Was just thinking about that line "The Child is the father of the man" and couldn't remember which poem it was from. Dear Mrs. Pointer, my 8th grade Reading Appreciation teacher, tried so hard to get me to understand what that line meant, but I was so clueless back then. I think it took about 15 or 20 more years before I fully understood. It really is a beautiful poem, and I should have remembered that it was Wordsworth. So I'm thankful that it was searchable and available on this site! All the best to the webmaster(s)! MOD MESSAGE Thank you Arthur The Oldpoetry Research Team

1) Explain the paradox “the child is the father of the man”.

In this poem the poet William Wordsworth says,

The Child is the father of the Man

Maria Montessori believed in the greatness of Man and the potential of the Child. She celebrates the Child as she celebrates Man. The Child is the father of man. His education is her ardent spiritual quest. It is a vision of education that informs and enlightens the whole child, the child within—psychic, social, biological and spiritual—responsive to and coexistent with his patterns. Here was education for peace and the birth of the Montessori Method.

The Child is The Father of The Man

The main purpose of the Montessori method is to develop an environment where the child can unfold spontaneously and manifest the greater person within. According to Maria Montessori, "The child is the father of man." As children begin to develop this inner self, their love of life and learning expand continuously.

After leaving the hospital with the CSM, Mulder dreams of a family on the beach. He wakes up to the CSM's voice saying, "the child is the father of man."The child is the father of man, and the students are the future of our society. A student may or may not remember what is taught in the classroom, but practical learning is something that is never forgotten. Kids Camps are an ideal way to teach kids and youngsters crucial life skills that can only be learnt in a practical environment. These will not go away unless their root cause is understood and uprooted. The Solution, therefore, lies in para education. The Hitopadesha (an ancient Indian book of wisdom by Narayana Pandita) rightly says that those parents who do not provide para education to their children are their children’s enemies. Ironically, these parents are also their own enemies, because “the child is the father of man”!Feb 24, 2009 - Our gathering here today is another step towards the fulfillment of our government’s resolve to start building the future today by investing in the future, our children. The target audience of this innovative campaign are our school children. Whereas we are the mirror through which they see life, all too often, we tend to undermine the significance of the child in society. We glibly refer to them as the leaders of tomorrow assuming their importance lies in the future. But we must never forget the immortal words of the poet, William Wordsworth, who declares that ‘the child is the father of man’. Our personalities, attitudes, habits, inclinations and predispositions as adults are often shaped during our childhood years. The most effective way to shape the attitude of tomorrow’s adult as a responsible citizen is, therefore, to positively influence the development of his or her character as a child today.

It has been aptly said that 'the child is the father of man'

Truth is not complicated. An innocent child is untrained in the manners of the world but this does not deprive him from living a zestful and complete life, albeit his/her mother forms an integral part of his unified circle of existence. This is what prompted Wordsworth to say that 'the child is the father of man.' A child is imbued with the quality of intuitive wisdom, which is the undifferentiating intelligence that existed before the world was created. Kali's nudity exhibits this free state of archetypal bliss, of which ecstasy is a characterizing attribute.
